The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) is honored to host the 25th Biennial International Conference of the Society for Philosophy and Technology (SPT 2027), taking place from June 16 to 19, 2027.

Under the theme AI for Everything and for Everyone: Imagining and Creating New Modes of Human Existence, this conference invites participants to consider a future in which artificial intelligence profoundly redefines human life.

Already proving its potential as a transformative force, AI becomes embedded in our daily existence. Its capacity to process vast amounts of data, automate complex tasks, and generate innovative solutions can be used to address some of humanity’s most pressing challenges – from autonomous logistics and patient-centered healthcare to personalized education and the co-production of art. Yet, this technological revolution also raises profound philosophical questions. We must confront critical issues: What does it mean to live in a world where AI surpasses human abilities in numerous domains? How does it redefine identity, purpose, and our relationship with the world? How do we balance machine efficiency with intrinsically human creativity, empathy, and ethics? And crucially, how can we build a future where AI augments human potential and benefits all of humanity?

“AI for Everything and for Everyone” represents not merely a technological shift but a philosophical imperative. This conference will convene technologists, philosophers, social scientists, policymakers, and artists to engage in interdisciplinary dialogue. Together we will develop a deeper understanding of AI’s capacities and the conditions for AI to serve as a collaborative partner – strengthening human connections and fostering a more inclusive, humane world.

While the conference places a special focus on the philosophical issues of artificial intelligence, SPT 2027 welcomes paper submissions from all areas of the philosophy of technology. We encourage submissions that engage in philosophical reflections on any relevant aspect of technology, including contributions from disciplines beyond philosophy (e.g., STS, history, anthropology, and sociology).

The conference will be held in person from Wednesday, June 16, to Saturday, June 19, 2027. All speakers are expected to present on-site. To enable broader participation, keynote presentations and selected sessions from the main hall will be live-streamed. Additionally, a virtual conference platform will be provided to facilitate online interaction for both remote and on-site attendees.
